North Fork GIS analysts quantify scientific data and develop informative graphic products including:
• Create maps and graphics using GIS software and related equipment.
• Process GPS field data.
• Analyze/model spatial data to incorporate results into documents and reports.
• Meet with clients to define data and analysis needs, project requirements, required inputs and outputs, and to develop unique applications specific to client needs.
• Conduct research to locate and obtain existing data sets.
• Gather, analyze, and integrate spatial data from various resources and determine how best to use and display the information using GIS.
• Compile geographic data from a variety of sources including field collection, satellite imagery, aerial photographs, existing maps, and public agencies.
• Design and update databases, applying knowledge of spatial feature representations.
• Analyze geographic relationships among varying types of data.
• Prepare metadata and other documentation.
• Operate and maintain GIS and GPS system hardware and software.
• Provide files and maps for reports in hard copy or electronic transfer.
• Data management.
